เครื่องรุ่นนี้เป็นรุ่นที่มีการพัฒนา PND ไปอีกขั้นของ Garmin โดยมีการเปลี่ยนการออกแบบ icon และ user interface ให้มีความทันสมัยและสวยงามกว่ารุ่นๆ ก่อน และมีขนาดที่บางลงโดย nuvi 1460 มีความหนาเพียง 1.5 ซม.

ในการค้นหาทำได้ง่ายดายขึ้นจากคีย์บอร์ดแบบ QWERTY ภาษาไทย ซึ่งเป็นเครื่องรุ่นแรกที่มีคีย์บอร์ดแบบปกติ

Junction View ที่ปรากฎครั้งแรกใน nuvi 215w ซึ่งเป็นสิ่งที่ผู้ใช้จีพีเอสทุกคนชอบ ก็มีการปรับปรุงและเพิ่มภาพขึ้นอย่างมากมายในการปรับปรุงแผนที่เป็น TSM 10 ครั้งนี้ ทำให้การขึ้นทางด่วน หรือการเข้าออกทางต่างระดับเป็นไปอย่างแม่นยำไม่สับสนอีกต่อไป

นอกจากนี้ nuvi 1460 ยังมีฟังก์ชั่น Route ที่นักเล่นจีพีเอสมือเก่าถามหา โดย Route จะเป็นการสร้างเส้นทางการเดินทางแบบตามใจผู้ใช้ ไม่ว่าจะเดินทางจากจุด A ไป B หรือหลายๆ จุด และยังมีความสามารถในการจัดเส้นทางให้มีประสิทธิภาพสูงสุดโดยอัติโนมัติในการเดินทางไปหลายจุดหมาย สามารถเก็บเส้นทางที่ใช้บ่อยได้ 10 เส้นทาง พร้อม trip log (track)

เมนูที่ใช้งานง่าย ตอบสนองกับผู้ใช้อย่างรวดเร็ว ฟังก์ชั่น การค้นหาที่หาสถานที่ต่างๆ ที่หาได้อย่างแม่นยำและรวดเร็ว รวมถึงการสะกดแบบไวลด์คาร์ด ที่ช่วยเดาชื่อในการค้นหา ไม่จำเป็นต้องสะกดชื่อทั้งหมดเพื่อหาสถานที่ทำให้ประหยัดเวลาเมื่อค้นหาขณะอยู่บนถนน นอกจากนี้ยังใส่หมวดหมู่สถานที่พิเศษได้อีกด้วย เช่น ปั้มก๊าซ NGV LPG กล้องฝ่าไฟแดง ทำให้การเดินทางมีความสะดวกสบายยิ่งขึ้นไม่ว่าจะเป็นการเดินทางในเมืองหรือต่างจังหวัด

มีฟังก์ชั่น Where am I? บอกพิกัดปัจจุบัน ที่อยู่ที่ใกล้ที่สุด แยกที่ใกล้ที่สุด โรงพยาบาล สถานีตำรวจ และ ปั้มน้ำมันที่ใกล้ที่สุด นอกจากนี้ยังมีฟังก์ชั่นเสริม อื่นๆ เช่นเดียวกับ nuvi ทุกรุ่นคือ โปรแกรมแสดงรูปภาพ นาฬิกาแสดงเวลาทั่วโลก โปรแกรมแปลงค่าเงิน และเครื่องคิดเลข

Plan Ahead
nüvi 1460 includes advanced navigation features to take the worry out of traveling. With route planning you can save 10 routes, specify via points and preview simulated turns on the 1460's large screen. In addition, nüvi 1460 automatically sorts multiple destinations to provide an efficient route for errands, deliveries or sales calls. A trip log provides an electronic bread crumb trail of up to 10,000 points, so you can see where you've been on the map.

Touch the color screen to easily look up addresses and services and get voice-prompted, turn-by-turn directions that speak street names to your destination. Its digital elevation maps show you shaded contours at higher zoom levels, giving you a big picture of the surrounding terrain.
